Almost every online application in India asks for a photo and signature in a fixed size, such as 20 KB to 50 KB or 10 KB to 20 KB, often with exact pixels like 200 × 230. A mobile photo is usually 2 to 5 MB, so the form keeps saying "file size too large". This free photo and signature resizer also works as a photo size reducer, so you can reduce image size in KB in a few taps: choose your exam, upload the photo, crop it and download a JPG that fits the limit.
Everything happens inside your own browser. Your photo is not uploaded to our server, which matters because these are personal documents.
1. How to Resize Photo and Signature in KB
- Choose the size: pick your exam and document (photo, signature, thumb impression or declaration). For any other form, choose Custom size and type the KB range and pixels written in your notification.
- Upload: tap the upload box and select the photo from your gallery or computer.
- Crop: move the box over your face or signature. The box already has the right shape for the chosen size. For a signature, press Auto-fit signature to frame the ink automatically.
- Resize & Compress: the tool finds the best JPG quality that stays inside the KB limit and shows the final size.
- Download: save the JPG and upload it to the application form.
2. Photo Size Reducer: Reduce Image Size in KB
If you only need a smaller file and the form does not ask for exact pixels, use the Quick resize buttons above the upload box. Tap 20 KB, 30 KB, 40 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB, upload your photo and the tool reduces the image size in KB automatically while keeping it as sharp as possible.
- For a form photo: use the exam preset in Step 1 so both the KB and the pixel size are correct.
- For WhatsApp, email or any website: use a Quick resize button, for example 100 KB or 200 KB.
- For an exact size in cm: choose Custom size and set the unit to cm (see the Photo Resizer by cm section below).
A 3 MB phone photo usually comes down to 20–50 KB with very little visible loss, because the tool first lowers the JPG quality and only reduces the pixels if that is not enough.
3. Photo & Signature Size for Popular Exams
These are the sizes commonly asked in recent notifications and built into the tool. Exam bodies can change them in any new notice, so always match them with the official notification of your exam before uploading.
| Exam / Document | Pixels | File size | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banking (IBPS, SBI) – Photo | 200 × 230 | 20–50 KB | JPG |
| Banking – Signature | 140 × 60 | 10–20 KB | JPG |
| Banking – Left thumb impression | 240 × 240 (200 DPI) | 20–50 KB | JPG |
| Banking – Handwritten declaration | 800 × 400 (200 DPI) | 50–100 KB | JPG |
| UPSC – Photo | 350 × 350 | 20–300 KB | JPG |
| UPSC – Signature | 350 × 150 | 20–100 KB | JPG |
| SSC – Signature | 4.0 × 2.0 cm (472 × 236 at 300 DPI) | 10–20 KB | JPG |
| PAN card – Photo | 200 DPI | up to 50 KB | JPG |
| PAN card – Signature | 2 × 4.5 cm (354 × 157 at 200 DPI) | up to 50 KB | JPG |
| Railway (RRB) – Photo | 35 × 45 mm | 20–50 KB | JPG |
| Passport size photo (print) | 413 × 531 (35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI) | – | JPG |
4. SSC Signature Resize (10–20 KB)
For SSC exams such as CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD, the signature has to be a JPG between 10 KB and 20 KB, about 4.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high. To do an SSC signature resize with this tool:
- Sign with a black pen on white paper and take a clear photo of it.
- Choose SSC – Signature in Step 1 and upload the photo.
- Press Auto-fit signature so the box covers only your signature.
- Press Resize & Compress. You get a 472 × 236 px JPG (4 × 2 cm at 300 DPI) between 10 and 20 KB.
The SSC photograph is now captured live inside the application, so only the signature needs this resize.
5. Signature Size 10 KB to 20 KB in cm & Pixels
"10 KB to 20 KB" is the file size, not the picture size. The picture size is set in pixels or cm, and both together decide the final KB. These are the signature sizes people search for most:
| Signature size | Pixels | File size | Used in |
|---|---|---|---|
| 140 × 60 pixels | 140 × 60 | 10–20 KB | IBPS, SBI and other banking forms |
| 4.0 × 2.0 cm at 100 DPI | 157 × 79 | 10–20 KB | SSC (small file) |
| 4.0 × 2.0 cm at 200 DPI | 315 × 157 | 10–20 KB | SSC |
| 4.0 × 2.0 cm at 300 DPI | 472 × 236 | 10–20 KB | SSC (tool default) |
| 4.5 × 2.0 cm at 200 DPI | 354 × 157 | up to 50 KB | PAN card |
| 350 × 150 pixels | 350 × 150 | 20–100 KB | UPSC |
For a 140 × 60 pixels signature resize, choose Banking – Signature. For any other size, choose Custom, pick cm or pixels, and type the KB range from your notice.
6. How to Increase Signature Size to 20 KB
Some forms show the error "signature size should be at least 20 KB". A clean signature on white paper is a very small JPG, often only 5–8 KB, so it fails the minimum. To increase the size:
- Choose Custom size, keep the pixels your form asks for, and type 20 in Min KB (and the form's limit in Max KB).
- Press Resize & Compress. The tool first raises the JPG quality and, if it is still small, adds empty bytes inside the file so it reaches 20 KB.
- The picture stays exactly the same, only the file size goes up, so the form accepts it.
7. PAN Card Photo & Signature Resize
For a new PAN or a PAN correction on the Protean (NSDL) or UTIITSL portal, the scanned photo and signature are uploaded as JPG files at 200 DPI, each up to 50 KB. The signature is 2 cm high and 4.5 cm wide. To resize a photo for PAN card:
- Photo: choose PAN Card – Photo, crop your face and shoulders, and download. The tool saves it at 200 DPI between 20 and 50 KB.
- Signature: choose PAN Card – Signature, press Auto-fit signature, and download a 354 × 157 px (4.5 × 2 cm) JPG.
The PAN photo dimensions are written differently in different guidelines, so if the portal preview shows a specific box, crop your photo to match that box before downloading. Instant e-PAN through Aadhaar does not need a separate photo upload.
8. Passport Size Photo Size in cm & Pixels
In India, a passport size photo is 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high (35 × 45 mm). The size in pixels depends on the DPI (print quality):
| Photo size | 200 DPI | 300 DPI (print) | 600 DPI |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3.5 × 4.5 cm (Indian passport size) | 276 × 354 px | 413 × 531 px | 827 × 1063 px |
| 2 × 2 inch (5.1 × 5.1 cm, US visa / passport) | 400 × 400 px | 600 × 600 px | 1200 × 1200 px |
For printing, 300 DPI is the standard, so 413 × 531 pixels is the passport photo size in pixels you need. Choose Passport size in the tool and use the A4 print sheet button to get 8 photos on one page.
9. Photo Resizer by cm
Many forms give the size in cm or mm instead of pixels. Choose Custom size, set the unit to cm (or mm / inch), type the width and height, and set the DPI (300 for print, 200 for most online forms). The tool converts it to pixels for you, for example 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI becomes 413 × 531 px, and also writes the DPI into the JPG.
10. Tips for a Clean Signature Scan
- Sign with a black ink pen on plain white paper. Avoid lined or coloured paper.
- Take the photo in daylight, straight from above, with no shadow of your phone on the paper.
- Leave the Make background pure white option on. It removes the grey paper shade, which also keeps the file small.
- Do not sign in capital letters if your exam notice says so (banking notices usually do).
11. Tips for an Accepted Photo
- Use a recent photo with a plain light background, face looking straight at the camera.
- Keep the face in the centre of the crop box with a little space above the head and the top of the shoulders visible.
- No caps, dark glasses or heavy filters. Do not use an AI-edited or beauty-filtered photo for an official form.
- If you need printed passport photos, use the A4 print sheet button and print the sheet at 100% (actual size).
12. Why the Form Rejects Your Photo
Most rejections come from just four things: the file is above the maximum KB, it is below the minimum KB, the pixel size does not match, or it is not a JPG. This tool handles all four. If a form still rejects the file, check that you selected the right document type (photo and signature have different limits) and that the notification has not changed the size.
